‘Ajoy’ in Assamese and Bengali means ‘invincible.’ ‘Hindustani’ represents all of us — Ham Hindustani! The word ‘Samvidhan’ (Constitution) is shared across Sanskrit, Hindi, and a multitude of Indian languages, from Manipuri to Marathi and Punjabi to Kannada. ‘Sangamam,’ meaning confluence in Tamil, signifies not just the meeting of rivers, but the coming together of ideas, cultures, and communities.
As emphasized above, Ahinsa (non-violence) stands as the core value that informs our methodology and brings together our collective ideals.
Ahinsa Sangamam is an umbrella platform bringing together individuals, communities, and organisations committed to Constitutional Values and Democratic Institutions (CVDI). It revives the spirit of Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave, combining service, struggle, and people’s participation to confront violence, inequality, and social fragmentation.
Rising violence and erosion of constitutional values demand an organised non-violent response.
